A Day Late

Here’s to all the times I should have, but never did…

A funny thing about life
Is that it never stops
You can fight, and cry, and wallow
But you’ll only see teardrops

You can try and be nostalgic
But the results are always tragic
The more you sit, the more you lie,
The more that time will pass you by

And when you wake the next day,
Full of spirit, full of might
You’ll see the whole world before you and say
“It’s mine alright!”

But soon you’ll come to realize
This very simple truth
The more time you spend dwelling
The more you lose your youth

You’ll miss the opportunity
Then you’ll blame it all on fate
And in the end you’re suffering
‘cause you’re always a day late

Where We Are

Wouldn’t it be great to say
That everything has gone my way
That everything I want to be
I can now see inside of me

That all my friends are happy
My family is full of glee
And all of those in heaven
Can veraciously agree

Wouldn’t it be great to say
I held you in my arms
I listened to your every trouble
And protected you from harms

Wouldn’t it be great to know
That I’ll always be there high and low
Through games, through plays, through all the strife
Through every mem’ry in your life

Wouldn’t it be great to know
That you’re always by my heart
When you’re feeling lively
Or when we’re torn apart

Wouldn’t it have been…

Ecstacy

Imagine if you will,
A magic little pill.
One, that when taken,
Makes all of life a thrill

This little pill is freedom,
It makes you want to play
It makes all your troubles,
And fears just fade away

If taken when you’re worried
This pill will lift you up
When beaten, broken, and left crying
It will hold you through the fright

It makes your breathing heavy,
It makes you feel so light
It makes you move so softly
As you dance away the night

This little pill will give you hope
Make you look forward to each day
You’ll sing it loud, you’ll sing it proud
Even more so than The Fray

This little pill, so marvelous
You will not live without it
It is so close, a little dose
To make it all legit

All you need is to believe
And all of this will come to be
This humble little magic pill
Just wants to make you see

*That ecstasy is not a drug,
But rather you and me

What was Lost

I walk along this shore
Stomping through the sand and shells alone
I know that something’s missing
I set out on a journey to explore

I scour every castle
Every grain of sand in sight
Only to find nothing
Something’s not quite right

There is something missing in this beach
Something’s out of reach
It’s not the moon reflecting
Off the pale blue water’s might

Its love, the ocean whispers
Love in all its forms
“For you, your friends, and family
Oh, and for her too”

“One cannot love another,
If one cannot love oneself
It may not be an easy task,
But you must find it for yourself”

I sit, beaten, staring at the moon
The lone wolf howling, pleading, praying
Asking for forgiveness…
Begging for a ray of light…

I lay waiting
All my thoughts and feelings fading…
I lose everything…
Suddenly, my heart was set ablaze

“You look for love out in the water
You hunt for it in temporal things
Yet love, so simple, is inside
You are the love you seek”

Invigorated,
I walk along the shore
Not to search for something missing
But to share the love once more
